MIND Lab Research Participation Portal

We are currently recruiting for the following studies:

Metacognition
Duration: 30 mins | Location: TBS 2.02A - Themis Building
The purpose of this study is to understand more about how people learn. If you agree to take part in the study, it should take no longer than 25 minutes. During the task, you will hear sequences of letters or numbers through the headphones. You will be asked to recall them at some point.
Sports engagement and decision-making
Duration: 30 mins | Location: TBS 2.01a
The study will take place in a designated room in the psychology department. All of the tasks are completed on a computer and responded to using the keyboard and mouse.

You will complete several questionnaires which ask about gambling and your engagement with sports. You will complete a computer task which measures your reaction time to certain words and images.

You will then be debriefed and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

Why Participate in Research?

Scientific discovery is an incremental process that relies on empirical data collected from a diverse range of participants. By volunteering your time, you are directly contributing to the advancement of psychological and behavioural science.

Every study listed has been approved by an ethics committee to ensure participant safety and data anonymity.

What happens if I sign up?

You will be sent an email confirmation of the date, time and location of the study. If you change your mind, you can use the link in the email to cancel the signup. You will not be contacted by email for any purpose except for the automated signup email.

Do I need to do anything to prepare before taking part?

No, you just arrive at the lab at the stated time (for lab-based studies). The researcher will explain everything and you can decide if you are still happy to take part. Even if you start a study, you are always free to withdraw at any time.
